Upcoming Events & Rallies

bulletRally Advice from your DC
Now that everyone in the club has had an opportunity to participate in a rally, I need everyone to think about what rallies they would like to attend this year.  Our club usually attends the Quiz rally which is similar to a TV game show about horses (without the TV and without your horse), the dressage rally, the show jumping rally and the eventing rally.  Quiz is March 27th, Dressage is April 24th/25th, Show Jumping is May 21st/23rd and Eventing is combined with the Rancho Murieta show April 30th/May 2nd.  With the exception of Quiz which is only one day, all these rallies will be weekend events and will be out of town.  EVERYONE can participate in all the rallies except Eventing which has height minimums for jumping.  Quiz is especially good for our younger members.

REMEMBER - you do not have to go to rallies.  They are not for everyone.  Some people love them, some people hate them.  You may not be able to go for financial reasons or other commitments.  You or your horse may not be ready for this type of activity.  You ALWAYS ride at your rating level at a rally (UR or D1 - trot poles, D2 cross rails, D3 2'6" and so on).  I don't want anyone to feel like they have to participate.

I also don't want anyone waiting until the last minute to decide that they want to participate since training and preparing for each rally is necessary.  For example, you cannot decide a week before the Dressage Rally that now is the time to "learn" two dressage tests.  We will gear the club's instruction according to rally participation.

Rallies tend to cost about $300 per member including hotel and food.  Show Jumping and Eventing are a little higher since it is necessary to pay for a trainer.  Quiz is usually less than $50 per member.   This is just a basic idea and I won't know the exact costs until the rally packages are sent to me.  Basically right now I just need to know your intent.  You are free to change your mind once we have all the information available.

As always, let me know if you have any questions.
